Lockdown Motorhome Security System
Your motorhome represents a major commitment in monetary terms; possibly only second to your home so surely it follows that one should both care and protect that valuable investment. Developed over a century ago the audible alarm grew in popularity with motor vehicle mass production, yet it still does not stop them being stolen. Today, there is a plethora of motorhome security devices available in the marketplace – but one size most certainly does not suit all.

As motor-caravan technology advances, especially electronics so has the dedicated thief in their approach to target and steal your valuable motorhome. Cloning, jamming even grabbers of key code devices are now cheaply and widely available. Joy riders on a wet, late night walk home may be foiled and walk on, but not members of a professional gang stealing to order! These are organised and dedicated thieves, good at their chosen line of employment and well aware of alarm units – pin-pointing each fittings weak points and positions including trackers, and can disarm or override within seconds.

These are the same Thatcham approved motorhome alarms and trackers you rely on; being activated by the vehicle key or by the ignition switch, as are manufacturer’s passive immobilisers. With cuts to Police forces there has already been numerous instances where the police were forced to prioritise, failing to recover a stolen vehicle even when they had the last known location via a tracker, this is only going to get worse.

Thieves don't need the key

Insurance companies may offer small premium discounts, or dependant on retail price of motorhome demand sophisticated security devices, such as Cat 1 motorhome alarms and/or tracking devices to be fitted. But they too, now face unprecedented claims for ‘stolen by unknown means’ or in other words electronic theft. It wasn’t long ago when thieves had to break into owners homes to steal the all-important vehicle keys to circumnavigate the vehicles immobiliser security - this is no longer the case.

Over 95% of vehicles are now stolen using the key or electronically, this means if your immobiliser, alarm or motorhome tracker is armed and disarmed using the vehicle key or ignition, then you have less than a 5% chance of your alarm activating or giving a theft alert. Therefore, today a totally new approach is required!

Protecting Your 21st Century Motorhome Requires A 21st Century Solution!

is a new generation of motorhome security system that is fully TUV accredited. It’s an integrated three in one system – engine immobiliser, motorhome alarm and tracking system, coming as standard with our trademark features ‘Lockdown’ and ‘Safestop™’.

An exclusive bespoke motorhome security system, manufactured for Outsmart the Thief Ltd by world-renowned Italian specialist company Gemini Technologies. it comprises a small single unit, modest wiring loom combined with siren and PIR movement detector, two remote activation fobs and dash mounted dongle-park. Lockdown
can be fitted to all makes of motorhome or campervan; it can operate on a multiplex of vehicle platforms using analogue and digital signals. It even monitors the engine battery and alerts when tampered with, and has its own back-up battery built-in.

also allows numerous unique options/additions to be made to personalise your unit to your own needs – be it wireless multiple locker and windows contacts, panic button, wireless movement detectors, even a 24-hour security loop is also available perfect for protecting bikes etc.

Tracking systems were only successful in the past because the thief didn't expect one to be fitted. Now he does and if found and ripped out, then the motorhome could be long gone – not so with Lockdown
. If found and wiring cut or even tampered with, say via the OBD port (vehicle on-board diagnostics) the unit recognises that it’s being targeted and attacked. The control centre is alerted, but its fail safe mode within the software means the vehicles engine cannot be started. The targeted motorhome maybe damaged or wounded - but NOT stolen!

Further features allow the unit to be activated while the owners or pets are inside without falsely triggering the alarm. If for any reason the alarm is sounded – say you forgot to disarm before unlocking, then as for any alert the control centre will telephone a stored mobile/home telephone number to advise you of the alert.

Motorhomes demand devices with low power consumption, something most other security systems cannot offer! Our product has an ultra-low battery drain of less that 4ma, considerably less than all its competitors, In fact with several individual ‘off the shelf’ devices fitted, battery drain can be worryingly high. Hence some systems sleep, making them an easier target to professionals, Lockdown
never goes to sleep.

Tracking is available 24/7 across Europe and beyond, the unit reporting and storing its last location when parked, or reporting every four seconds whilst on the move. Unauthorised entry, of course triggers the alarm along with the monitoring centre, who even know the point of attack.

There are also two ‘intelligent’ self-levelling tilt sensors protecting the motorhome, which will detect any movement along or across the vehicle. This will send an alert if the vehicle is tilted for any reason. Our attention to detail is revealed when arming the system - using either of the two supplied rolling-coded key fobs, the lights flash twice for ON and three times for OFF – with no audible sound.

Should the thief ever manage to steal your motorhome, say with the system turned off or under duress then the Safestop command can be sent to render the engine ‘dead’ upon noting zero speed. This also will set off the alarm siren and flash the hazard lights.

Lockdown comes with a 2-Year parts and labour warranty and is supplied and fitted for £649 – while monitoring costs only £99 p.a. Discounted to £259 for three years or £399 for a five year package.

Outsmart the Thief Ltd have a dedicated nationwide fitting team, who can arrange an appointment at your home address or a growing network of select dealerships can now fit Lockdown to your new motorhome before delivery, giving you peace of mind in this new wave of security. The whole system is also transferable from customer to new owner or from one vehicle to another.

Today as with the ‘National Health Service’ prevention is better than cure - only with our ethos’ that’ becomes STOP rather than recovery!

Is our registered and most powerful feature - once the alarm and immobiliser are armed an encrypted signal is sent to the on-board security system, this alerts the unit to ignore the alarm remote control, keeping the vehicle immobilised. Even with any type of key or remote control, the alarm cannot be de-activated; therefore the vehicle will not start.

Another of our trade mark features where the monitoring centre can stop the vehicle. By signalling the engine ECU remotely, the control centre can safely upon noting a zero speed/movement for several seconds, stop the engine. Then further drawing attention to the motorhome by activating the alarm siren and flashing the vehicle lights. This feature can be activated regardless to the condition of the alarm or immobilisers, and with or without police authorisation – an added bonus being no need for dangerous police chases.

Your motorhome alarm is monitored and tracked 24-hours, 365 days a year, throughout the UK, Europe and beyond. A precise location is also given immediately the motorhome alarm is triggered, and information on which alarm circuit has been activated. Monitoring is charged at £99.00 per annum, or discounted to £259.00 for a three years or £399.00 for a five year package.

For further peace of mind, this is a must have optional feature. In reality a useful help function where the monitoring centre can action local emergency services, advise nearest police station and/or telephone number, authority or embassy details, even contact owners recovery contractor or insurance company.

Apple and Android customers can Lockdown
, locate and receive alarm alerts using our mobile phone app. Also if you’re unsure if you have correctly armed the motorhome alarm and immobiliser while out exploring - of course the mobile phone app can do that too!

There are two ‘intelligent’ self-levelling tilt sensors built into the unit, they will detect any movement along or across the vehicle. These being digital, allow for the vehicle to be to placed/parked on a hill without causing the alarm to be falsely triggered, they can also be adjusted remotely to suit each vehicle.

A highly encrypted manual override dongle and dongle park are supplied with every system. These are used as fail-safe should all else fail and will disengage the security system – they should not be kept with the motorhome keys!

This useful optional extra is suitable to protect cycles, mobility scooters or trailers even without the main motorhome alarm being armed. Alternately, it can also be used to protect the satellite dish or a portable generator.

Specifically designed for the leisure market these small contacts are ideal for protecting all your habitation lockers and doors. The motorhome alarm system can provide cover for over 50 wireless products, being wireless means a far less intrusive installation with no wires visible.

With an easy to install purpose made bracket, these wireless contacts are the perfect solution for protecting those vulnerable windows and vents. As with all our contacts, detectors and remote controls the batteries are replaceable.

The supplied wireless detector is perfect for detecting unauthorised movement within the motorhome. It also incorporates a lock-out feature, preventing continuous false alarms. The PIR detector is isolated when using either the night or pet setting.

There are no annoying loud beeps or chirps when arming and disarming the alarm, the system silently advising its status by flashing the base vehicle indicator lights and internal status LED.

The night/pet setting allows you to sleep inside the motorhome or leave a pet inside with the system still armed. Nothing is more annoying than hearing loud beeps or chirps when arming and disarming the night-setting, so as not to disturb your neighbours ours is silent.

All our systems come with one siren as standard, this is normally fitted outside the vehicle. Should you wish to get a more aggressive sound from your motorhome alarm, then our waterproof sirens are not known to be quiet! You can add as many additional sirens as you wish, however we would only recommend one extra internal sounder if any.

Attention to detail is revealed when using the two supplied remote control fobs; these use a random encrypted rolling-code to prevent grabbing devices being effective. Further remote controls can be added to your motorhome alarm, either at installation or later.

A built-in safety feature is fitted; preventing accidental arming of the motorhome alarm whilst driving.

Our unique self-diagnostic repair technology regularly checks itself (so you don't have to) for any faults or anomaly, Should it find anything, it will use its built-in software to rectify any situation, reporting this to the monitoring centre. It can even power itself down and perform a total reset back to that set on installation

The fact that a vast majority of motorhomes are left unattended for long periods, means power consumption and battery drain is of the utmost priority. Lockdown
is a combination ‘three in one’ motorhome alarm/immobiliser and tracker system, it never sleeps and consumes a minuscule four milliamp to power.

The whole system is protected by an internal battery-backup; this is only used when the vehicle battery drops below 5 volts, or is disconnected.

Software constantly monitors the battery condition, should it be tampered with, an alert will be sent to the monitoring centre and your mobile phone app. Any unauthorised tampering or removal of the main unit will also immobilise the vehicle engine. However should the unit malfunction a fail-safe feature is designed to keep the vehicle engine running.

Supplied as standard this bonnet switch is designed to protect the engine bay, however not all motorhomes require one to be fitted.

Two adhesive window warning stickers are supplied as standard, if more are required they will supplied free of charge upon request.

Should you wish to sell or change your motorhome, the whole system is transferable from customer to customer or from one vehicle to another. Monitoring can also be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, system to system or even frozen whilst vehicles are exchanged.

All our Lockdown
products are covered by a two year "we come to you" parts and labour warranty. The main control unit has a lifetime parts warranty included for free, if after this period the system is still being covered by an 'airtime' monitoring package. As the world's largest supplier of Gemini motorhome alarm and tracking systems, Outsmart the Thief Ltd carries a large component stock and can dispatch all our parts normally the same day.
